Living life from the ice

For EPHS athlete Nick Leddy hockey as been a way of life rather than a sport. His career at the game has lasted for over a decade and with a recent commitment to the University of Minnesota his ride is not about to end any time soon. Still, with such large focus on the junior defenseman, Leddy is considered by his teammates as a player who puts the team above himself while maintaining to be a crucial player to the program.

Leddy’s participation at hockey started 12 years ago and has ever since taken him to areas across the U.S. and other parts of the globe, “My most memorable moment would have to be traveling to the Czech Republic for hockey, but in little league I played all over the U.S.” Currently, Leddy has scored four goals along with racking up 18 points, as of January 18.

Leddy’s parents have been key role models for his life, on and off the ice. “My dad would be my biggest role and has helped me a lot over the years, while my mom makes sure that that I am a student before an athlete.” While high school is not nearly complete for the young player, Leddy has already decided that playing for Minnesota is what best suited him. “ I had been offered by other schools such as St. Cloud, Duluth, and North Dakota, but Minnesota I decided was what I wanted. It’s a good hockey program that has even better coaches, and it offers an excellent education.” Leddy plans on studying business at the Twin Cities, possibly to pursue a career at a sports agency.

With such large expectations already placed on him, Leddy hasn’t lost focus of his current job to help push the Eagle’s to the state title. “ With such great talent our team has got I do hope we make it to the state title this year.” Fortunately for EPHS, Leddy is still got another season to add to his legacy, and with the help of a strong junior and sophmore classes the future for Eagle’s hockey looks full of goal-slapping excitement.
